I lived in NOVA for five years. I worked for Loudoun County and Fairfax County—some of the wealthiest counties in the U.S.—and it was evident. Northern Virginia is home to some of the highest achieving schools in the country. Straight A’s and prestigious colleges are an expectation. Mass migrations of accomplished adults descend to D.C. every year to enter an ambitious workforce. I loved all the beauty that the Nation’s Capitol had to offer AND I am fully aware of how easy it is to lose yourself in what can sometimes feel like attempts to keep up with the Joneses.
